High tech snowmobiling brings new technologies to Ontario snowmobile tours. This takes Ontario snowmobile trail riding to the next level. So snowmobiling in Ontario, Canada has become as high tech as today’s Best Available Technology sleds.

That’s because the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) has launched its Interactive Trail Guide. Also, it has introduced advanced Groomer Fleet Management Technology. For snowmobilers visiting Ontario, these innovations mean quicker, better info, easier tour planning and navigation. Plus, they also help deliver smoother, more consistent trails thanks to more efficient and effective grooming operations. Let’s look at what’s new…

 Interactive Trail Guide

Until now, the OFSC has only depicted its Ontario snowmobile trails as a moment-in-time snapshot on a paper guide. Or as static text display on a computer screen. No more. The OFSC Interactive Trail Guide uses the most recent GPS digital data, updated regularly. It features the most accurate and up to date display of the entire 30,000-kilometre OFSC snowmobile trail network available anywhere.

It’s a “living” site. So it conveys the maximum viewable information to snowmobilers as changes occur daily and throughout the season. Riders can now view the latest trail status updates and plan their Ontario snowmobiling rides. In addition, they can compute distances, find services or check for in-season re-routes and detours.

High Tech Snowmobiling Groomer Fleet Technology

OFSC snowmobile clubs regularly resurface over 30,000 kilometres of Ontario snowmobile trails. The grooming fleet consists of over 300 purpose-built and high tech industrial grooming tractors and drags that can easily cost more than $250,000 each. So it stands to reason to use these valuable equipment resources with optimum efficiency and effectiveness. Fortunately, recent advances in grooming technology, expertise and know-how make this possible.

Enter groomer fleet technology. The OSC has now installed it in every grooming tractor being operated by its districts. So groomer fleet technology now tracks grooming runs and use to maximize results and enable comparative analysis.
